Background & Early Life
Joel is the daughter of famous American singer Billy Joel and fashion model Christie Brinkley. Her father gave her the second name, Ray, in honor of his long-term friend and musician, Ray Charles.
She lived in Manhattan, New York, during childhood. Joel developed a high interest in music as a child. At age 15, she could compose songs and piano tunes for them.
Music Career
In 2005, Joel led a band when she performed live for the first time at Maxwell’s, Hoboken. She performed on about a hundred shows and embarked on the “Hard Rock Café” tour next year.
Joel released her debut single, “Invisible,” in October 2009. The song’s concept describes a bad breakup, and it is a piano ballad song. Then, in August 2005, she released her famous EP, “Sketches.” She has stated that the songs were done in a basic manner, hence its title Sketches. Joel has been releasing hit singles since then.
Fashion
Joel has performed three consecutive times (2009-2011) at the “Fashion’s Night Out,” Manhattan. In 2017, she modeled for “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue” and “Bella” magazine in 2018.
