Alessio Cerci is an Italian-born professional footballer. He played in the Italian Serie A as well as the Spanish La Liga at the height of his career.
Early Life
Alessio played football from a young age in Valmontone, Italy. His peers called him "the Thierry Henry of Valmontone" [“L’Henry di Valmontone" in Italian] because of his style of play which they saw as slightly similar to that of FIFA World Cup winner Thierry Henry.
He married Frederica Ricardi.
Football Career
The winger began his professional career playing for the under-16, and later, the under-21 Italian youth teams. His debut in the senior national team was in 2013. He was a central player in the national squad for the length of his career.
The Italian pro footballer went through the junior system of Roma and made it into the Serie A team [Roma] in 2003. He was loaned out to Brescia, Pisa and Atalanta while he was with Roma.
After Roma, Alessio played for 2 years in Fiorentina and later joined Torino. He was transferred to Atlético Madrid in Spain, then returned to Italy to play for Milan, and later Genoa.
In 2020, he signed for Italian club Arezzo in Tuscany. Prior to that he had spells at clubs such as Ankaragucu in Turkey and Salernitana in Italy.
Trivia
Alessio was notorious for parking his Maserati indiscriminately around the city, often getting in trouble with the police.
