Alasdair MacIntyre is a Scottish-born American philosopher who has made lots of contributions to fields like political and moral philosophy.
Career
Most of his works are aimed at reviving the teachings of the “Aristotelian ethics”. In order to spread his ideas, MacIntyre has published many books with the most popular ones titled “After Virtue” and “Whose Justice? Which Rationality?”. This renowned philosopher has also worked with some top institutions such as London Metropolitan University’s Contemporary Aristotelian Studies in Ethics and Politics and the University of Notre Dame.
Family
He was the product of the union between Greta and Eneas MacIntyre. Before their divorce in 1963, he had two kids with Ann Peri named Toni and Jean. He later married Susan Margery Willans and together they had two kids. He later tied the knot with Lynn Sumida Joy after his marriage to Peri came to an end in 1977.
Education
After graduating from Queen Mary College in London, MacIntyre enrolled at the University of Manchester. He later continued at the University of Oxford.
Trivia
He has also worked at the University of Leeds and the University of Essex as a lecturer.
