Family and Education
He was born to James Grant Duncan and Anne Carter. The institutions he had his education at are Beechwood Park School, St. John’s College and Harvard University (scholarship). He got married to James Dunseath in 2008.
Career Highlight
Before Duncan ventured into politics, he was a successful businessman and after he had worked with Royal Dutch Shell and from that time to 1992, he became self-employed running his own business. His political career began in 1986 but in 1993, he secured his first governmental position as the Parliamentary Private secretary to the Minister of health. His other notable positions included Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, Shadow Leader of the House of Commons, Shadow Minister for prisons and the Minister of State for International Development.
He also published a few books and they include “An end to Illusion” and “Saturn’s Children: How the State Devours Liberty, Prosperity and Virtue”.
Trivia
Duncan formulated the policy for the introduction of civil partnership legislation in 2004.
