Al Sharpton is an iconic American civil lights, radio/television talk show host and Baptist minister known for his decades of fighting against injustice and racial prejudice. U.S. President Barack Obama once referred to him as the “voice for the voiceless”. In 1999, he founded the civil rights organization the National Action Network. He is widely regarded as one of the most prominent civil rights activist in the entire history of America.

He was born to Ada and Alfred Charles Sharpton Sr. He got married to singer Kathy Jordan in 1980. He and Kathy separated in 2004.
