Pittsburgh Pirates and Other Baseball Team
Oliver started his MLB career with the Pittsburgh Pirate and made his official debut with the baseball team in 1968. Starting as a fresh player, he recorded 17 home runs and 70 runs. During his nine years stay with the team, they won five National League East division and also won the World Series.
He was traded with some colleagues from the Pirates to play for Texas Rangers. He started featuring for the Rangers in 1978 and got traded again in 1981. He displayed his baseball abilities to other teams such as The Montreal Expos, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays.
Honors
The American former baseball player is a seven- time All-Star player and has won the Silver Slugger Award for three times with the years including 1980 and 1982.
Trivia
He was named as “Mr. Ambassador” for the city of Portsmouth in 2013.
