About Al Kaline
Al Kaline was an American baseball player, color commentator and executive who spent an unprecedented 67 years affiliated with a single organization. And due to his loyalty to the Detroit Tigers he long held the nickname "Mr. Tiger".
Family Life
In 1954 he married his significant other, Madge Hamilton. Their two sons are named Mark and Michael Kaline.
His grandson, Colin Kaline, was drafted by the Tigers twice and played for one of their minor league teams.
Achievements
Throughout his career he won 10 Golden Glove Awards and played in the MLB All-Star Game 18 times.
He also won a World Series with the Tigers in 1968.
Being enshrined in 1980, he was one of the first players ever inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Trivia
Kaline competed in the MLB for 22 seasons, the entire time playing for the Tigers.
After his playing days, he called Tigers' games on television for 27 years.
Then for the last 18 years of his life he was a special assistant to the man in charge of the organization, Dave Dombrowski.
