She studied fine arts and acting at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua.
Family
Her daughter, Carolina Valsagna was born in 1975. She married Carlos Valsagna in 1978. The marriage was rocked with difficulties and it collapsed in 1985 with a divorce. The Mexican actress went on to marry Arnaldo Pipke in 2005.
Career
Barraza worked in Mexico City as a theatre director in 1985. Between 1994 and 1995, she played the role of Flora in "Imperio de Cristal". She also starred in the 2006 film "Babel" as Amelia and as Esperanza Martinez in "Henry Poole Is Here".
The Mexican actress was cast as Shaun San Dena in the 2009 film "Drag Me to Hell", which was directed and written by American filmmaker Sam Raimi.
Her directional film credits include Barraza "Locura de Amor" and "Nunca Te Olvidare”.
Awards
She won "Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture" at the Online Film Critics Society in 2006.
