About Adolph Murie
He was a world recognized scientist from the United States who worked as an author, naturalist and biologist and is regarded as one of the first scientists to learn more about wolves by watching them in their natural homes.
Personal Life
He was born to Marie Winstrom and Ed Winstrom and was interested in nature at a young age. He studied at Concordia College, and from there, he continued his studies at University of Michigan and even worked for their zoology museum.
He had a brother by the name of Olaus Murie who had similar interests in nature so he joined him on various expeditions, including a trip to Mount McKinley National Park.
Career
He got a job with the wildlife section of the National Park Service in 1934 and eventually ended up working with them for over three decades. He later worked on a book titled “Ecology of the Coyote in Yellowstone”. Some of his works include “Birds of Mount McKinley National Park”, “The Grizzlies of Mount McKinley” and “Mammals of Denali” among others
Cause of Death
In 1974, he passed away after suffering a seizure related to epilepsy.
