Background
Silver was born in a Jewish family in New York where he attended Rye High School. He graduated from Duke University where he majored in political science and bagged his degree in law from the University of Chicago Law School.
Career
Silver became the NBA commissioner in 2014, that same year, he banned the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers Donald Sterling from the NBA for life in addition to a $2.5 million fine for using racist remarks. This was the most severe punishment meted out to a club owner.
Silver was praised for suspending NBA games during the COVID-19 pandemic and investing money to create the NBA Bubble. This New Yorker was named Time's 100 Most Influential People and Sports Illustrated’s Executive of the Year for 2014.
Personal Life
Silver tied the knot with Maggie Grise in 2015 and by 2020, they had two daughters.
