About Abigail Fillmore
Abigail Fillmore was known to be the First Lady and husband of the 13th president of the United States, Millard Fillmore. Abigail Fillmore was the first to establish a library at the White House.
Family life and Education
She was the last child of Reverend Lemuel Leland Powers and Abigail Newland.
She exchanged wedding vows with Millard Fillmore in 1826 and together they had two children namely, Millard Powers and Mary Abigail Fillmore.

She became a teacher after she completed school. She still remained as a teacher after she became the First Lady of the United States.
Her husband served as a congressman, and in 1849, he was elected as the vice president, making her the second lady of the United States during that time.
Following the death of Zachary Taylor, who was the 12th president of the United States, Millard Fillmore was sworn into office. As the First Lady, she was the first to organize a literary salon and she invited prominent writers like Charles Dickens and Washington Irving.
