About A. R. Rahman
Aside from being known as a screenwriter, Ar Rahman is also a music composer who has released soundtracks for the following films: “Thiruda Thiruda”, “Love Birds”, “Minsara Kanavu” and the Indian romantic crime film “En Swasa Kaatre”.
Personal life
He is the son of the renowned Indian music composer R.K. Shekhar and Kareema Kashturi. Unfortunately for Rahman, he lost his father at an early age. He was educated at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School and was given a scholarship to study at the Trinity College of Music.
In 1995, the Indian composer married Saira Banu and he has three children with her.
Career Highlight
Rahman received training from the Indian musician of Tamil Nadu, Master Dhanraj and at an early age, he played for the orchestra of the Malayalam composer.
He came to the limelight as a result of the numerous soundtracks he has produced for Indian films and commercials; and by 1993, he had received a number of awards, including a National Film Award for the category of Best Music Director.
As a producer and director, some of his works include “Atkan Chatkan (2020), “99 Songs” (2021) and “Le Musk” (2022). The latter film features Nora Arnezeder, Guy Burnet and Mariam Zohrabyan.
Achievements
A.R. Rahman is a multi-award winner who has received a number of Filmfare Awards and more than 4 Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.
Trivia
He was born as A.S. Dileep Kumar. After his conversion to Islam in 1989, he picked the name Allah Rakha Rahman.
